Google battles bad search results
On Feb. 27, researchers at the University of London published a paper saying that Google’s efforts to personalize search results may actually do more to help advertisers target users than help searchers find what they want.

Back to the Classic Photo Viewer of Facebook
Facebook upgraded the website's photo viewer now phots appear in a dark pop-up window. This new layout of photos is live for most Facebook users though it looks a bit ugly
If you are viewing a photo in Facebook and would like to switch to the classic layout - where photos are displayed without a pop-up - just press the F5 key on your keyboard.
This will refresh the current Facebook page and the photo will display on its own page without the lightbox effect. Watch the above screencast for details.

LinkedIn files for IPO: 8 facts to know
LinkedIn filed for an initial public offering and detailed a profits for the nine months ended Sept. 30, a relatively new employee base and risk factors that included competition from the likes of Google and Facebook.
The professional networking site said it planned to raise a maximum of $175 million in its IPO. Morgan Stanley, BofA Merrill Lynch and J.P. Morgan are on tap to be the lead underwriters.

How Does 3D Technology Work?
In 1838, Sir Charles Wheatstone first described the process of stereopsis: the process by which humans perceive three dimensions from two highly similar, overlaid images. Or, the process by which Avatar looks like a mind-blowingly immersive alien landscape instead of a bunch of brightly colored fuzz.
3D technology has come a long way since Wheatstone developed his stereoscope, then used to view static images and eventually pictures. Now we get to wear Wayfarer knock-offs and enjoy 3D films, television shows and video games.

Google’s accusation that Microsoft is copying its search results
Google’s claim was first reported yesterday by Danny Sullivan on the technology blog Search Engine Land. Mr. Sullivan’s article published details of Google’s “sting operation,” which the company says proves Bing is using Google’s search results to improve its own service. Amit Singhal, who helps oversee Google’s search ranking algorithm, was quoted as saying Microsoft’s actions consituted “cheating.”
